Summary

The exceptionally robust design of the Dunlop Men’s Purofort Thermo+ Full Safety Boot will give you a pretty good idea of just how marvelously it can perform in the harshest environments while ensuring that you’ll have a comfortable experience. The ultra-thick soles are perhaps the thickest ones I’ve seen and look rugged enough to plough through the most difficult terrains without too much effort. These soles are designed to retain heat make sure that the foot stays comfortable inside the boot when in extremely cold environments, especially if the job involves staying in such harsh settings for long hours at a time. This waterproof winter boot doesn’t allow water to get in to guarantee long-lasting foot dryness as you work in areas that are exceptionally wet or are constantly exposed to extreme moisture.

Image

It features steel toe caps that form a safety barrier to keep the foot from being seriously injured in case pieces of equipment, tools, and other heavy items come crashing down on the boot from a high place. A steel midsole protects the foot from being punctured by sharp objects if you accidentally step on these safety hazards in the work area. This boot offers thermal insulation down to -50°C to keep the foot protected against the extreme cold while working twice as hard to maintain comfortable coolness in warmer conditions. The extra-thick soles come with large cleats that bite firmly into the ground for maximum traction and have a self-cleaning mechanism, so you won’t track mud and other debris from the outdoors. The heavy-duty sole features a rocker mechanism that can help you walk and stand more comfortably for hours. Below we’ll recount this boot’s qualities to showcase the ones that stand out in terms of benefits and if there are components that can be improved on for better boot functionality.

To keep you going in the harshest work conditions, this boot is constructed to deliver maximum protection without sacrificing a comfortable experience.

Ideal For

  • Those after superior-quality winter boots

Performance Analysis

Comfort

Just by looking at it, I didn’t expect the Dunlop Men’s Purofort Thermo+ Full Safety Boot to feel as comfortable as it did. The thick upper material was surprisingly flexible, so it didn’t restrict my movements the way stiff rubber boot materials do. Walking felt more comfortable and natural with these boots on since they adapted quickly to my steps without digging in painfully with every movement. This boot comes with an energy-absorbing heel that soaked up most of the force coming from each step, resulting in the impact being diffused throughout the boot so that my foot and calf muscles were spared from experiencing foot fatigue. It also offered a locked-in sensation that felt like my foot was embraced securely but still had enough room to shift in place when needed so that the exhaustion of long hours on my feet could be eased before foot cramps fully set in. The thermal insulation maintained a cozy warmth within the boot that was especially helpful when working outdoors during winter and in other cold environments and worked just as hard to keep my foot surrounded by cool comfort when the surrounding area became much warmer. The boot comes with antistatic technology that makes it more comfortable and a lot safer to work on non-insulated surfaces that you may encounter around the job site. The thick soles need a bit of getting used to because of their supreme thickness, but that adjustment period is just a small price to pay for the benefits that this remarkable sole structure provides. These soles also retain heat to ensure that the boot’s interior stays warm while you navigate exceptionally cold areas that can go down to -50°C, making this boot the perfect partner when you need to work in harsh winter settings. An antibacterial lining fights bacterial growth to keep the interior feeling and smelling fresh for longer even when with nonstop boot use for the entire day. The ankle is reinforced to maintain superior ankle support and comfort, making your steps more stable without risking your safety.

I liked the sole’s rocker heel structure that eased the pressure off the heel with every step to protect this crucial area from pain. This made long hours of walking and standing more comfortable, with the impact from the body’s weight flowing naturally through the foot with the rocking motion of each step instead of being concentrated on the heel area alone, which can lead to significant foot pain.

Weight

This boot surprisingly doesn’t weigh a lot considering the heavy-duty construction. I expected it to weigh a lot more because of the exceptionally thick soles, so I was surprised to discover that it fell more in the lightweight range. This lightness is mainly because of the exclusive material used for the upper and outsole called Purofort, which is crafted with millions of equally positioned air pockets that resulted in a lightweight profile. Even the ultra-thick sole didn’t make the boot extremely heavy, although it does have a heavier feel compared to regular (and lower quality) rubber boots. The steel toe caps contributed to the extra weight of the boot, but this seems like a small compromise given the protective benefits offered by the safety toes.

Image

Traction

The boot’s heavy-duty outsole delivers maximum traction to keep you moving confidently over different terrains without worrying too much about slipping accidents. The deep cleats positioned all over the outsole are designed to bite into the ground to keep your movements stabilized, allowing you to walk more naturally even on icy or snowy ground conditions without compromising your comfort and safety in the process. The high traction sole also retains heat to keep the foot warm when you need to work in exceptionally cold surroundings.

Fit and Sizing

This boot comes with a relaxed fit that gave the interior a roomy feel, enough for my toes to wiggle freely when needed to prevent foot cramps from setting in.

However, my foot felt locked in place inside the boot so there wasn’t much room for unwanted movement from within.

This resulted in a more secure feeling since I didn’t need to worry that my foot would slip inside the boot, especially when I needed to move more quickly over uneven or slippery ground conditions. The flexible material made the boot very easy to put on and remove because there were no rigid materials getting in the way.

Image

Waterproofing

This is a fully waterproof boot that’s guaranteed to protect your foot from being thoroughly soaked in extremely wet surroundings. The Purofort material blocks water, snow, mud, muck, and other liquid substances to maintain a completely dry boot interior for superior foot comfort that will last for the duration of your activities in harsh settings. The tall boot height also works to prevent water and moisture from seeping into the top of the boot so you can wade through snow and mud without worrying about your foot’s safety and comfort.

Image

Breathability

The insulation within the boot allows some air to move freely so that good ventilation can be achieved and maintained for enhanced comfort. The insulation also works to maintain a cool boot interior even in hot or humid environments, although the fully waterproof material and tall boot height may prevent more generous amounts of air from coming into the boot.

Quality and Durability

The Dunlop Men’s Purofort Thermo+ Full Safety Boot is crafted with the exclusive Purofort material that’s designed to deliver long-lasting durability that can easily withstand the harshest settings.

This material is fully waterproof to maintain complete foot dryness for hours as you work while surrounded by mud, snow, mulch, and other liquids. This is a flexible material that allows you to move freely without getting in the way of your natural mobility, allowing you to walk and move efficiently without rigid materials that can cause discomfort and a clumsy feeling when they restrict every step.

The special Purofort material from Dunlop is built with equally spaced air pockets that result in a lightweight construction, so the boot is superbly comfortable even with its thick outsoles in place. This boot is a bit heavier than regular rubber boots but can still be considered lightweight even with its robust structure that gives you an idea of the multitude of protective features in place. The steel toe caps protect the foot from being seriously harmed when compression and impact dangers suddenly drop on the boot from a high place. The steel midsole acts as a protective barrier against sharp objects that you can accidentally step on, so your foot won’t be seriously injured by the puncture hazards. The extremely thick outsole offers outstanding traction to help maintain your steady footing on a variety of surfaces, so you can confidently walk in extremely slippery conditions outdoors without the fear that a simple misstep could lead to a serious slipping accident. This outsole stabilizes your steps to help you move more efficiently over low-traction surfaces with snow and ice while retaining heat to ensure that your foot remains comfortable inside the boot regardless of how long you need to work in harsh conditions.

The deep cleats on the thick soles dig firmly into the ground to help maintain your balance, especially when you need to walk quickly on uneven or slippery surfaces.

These cleats are also self-cleaning, so you won’t have to worry about tracking in mud and debris from the outdoors. This boot offers superior cold insulation down to -50°C to maintain a cozy environment for your foot to enjoy while working doubly hard to preserve a cool boot interior when you need to work in warm surroundings. The energy-absorbing heel soaks up the impact coming from continuous walking for hours to protect the calf and foot muscles from foot fatigue. The rocker heel structure helps you move more fluidly as the weight flows through the foot with every step so that walking and standing for hours can be done with minimal pressure to the heel for a more comfortable experience. This boot has antistatic properties to make it safer and more comfortable for you to work in non-insulated areas. The Purofort material is resistant to fuel oil and certain chemicals so you can be sure that the boot will be able to preserve its strong structure even with exposure to these substances in the workplace.
