Review of Blundstone 510 Boots

Comfort

I didn’t expect the Blundstone 510 Leather Chelsea Boot to be as comfortable as it was because it initially looked more focused on style.

I was happy to discover that the upper, made with premium leather, felt soft and flexible.

This pliable profile easily followed my foot movements, enabling me to walk comfortably as there wasn’t anything rigid that could dig into my skin from the top with every step – which is a risk when using boots made with stiff leather.

The sole had enough flexibility as well not to restrict my movements and easily adapted to my foot’s natural motion comfortably.

It reminded me of the soles fitted onto trainers, which had the same comfortable feel.

I liked how the soft toe box didn’t prevent my toes from comfortably wiggling from time to time. This prevented foot cramps from developing even when I spent most of my workday walking and staying on my feet to get the job done.

I was impressed with the boot’s proprietary comfort system that delivered superior shock absorption. It returned energy to my steps to make walking more comfortable and manageable for long periods. In addition, the removable footbed had a nicely cushioned design that supported my foot with enough softness to ward off the pain for entire shifts.

I appreciated the Chelsea design not only because of its style but also because it contributed to the comfortable boot-wearing experience. The pull-on tabs on the front and back parts of the opening allowed me to put the boots on comfortably and easily. In addition, I’m grateful for the elastic side panels that stretched to accommodate my foot, flexing to give more space, so the boot’s opening didn’t pinch my skin.

Weight

The comfortable feel was enhanced even more by the boot’s lightweight profile.

The reduced weight allowed me to walk continuously for hours without dragging around the excess weight on my feet. Even the soles felt quite lightweight and flexed easily with every step. This enabled my feet to get their needed support without heavy soles dragging them down.

Traction

This boot had good traction, with the TPU outsole featuring a structure resistant to acid, organic fat, and oils. As a result, I could walk confidently over wet floors while enjoying a stable walking experience. In addition, the boot had enough grip to support my stride over different surfaces.

However, I don’t consider the traction level exceptional so I won’t recommend this boot for use in extremely slippery or unstable ground conditions.

Fit and Sizing

This boot is true to size, with a relaxed fit that comfortably supports my foot without feeling restrictive.

I loved how I easily put the boot on, thanks to the pull tabs attached to the front and back sections of the boot opening.

Pulling the boot on and off was convenient because these pull tabs were strongly stitched to the footwear. Meanwhile, the elastic panels on the sides of the boot effortlessly stretched to welcome my foot upon entry and exit. These panels quickly returned to their normal structure once my foot was safely inside, maintaining the boot’s streamlined look.

Waterproofing

This boot is made with water-resistant leather, so small liquid splashes didn’t worry me.

The boot protected my foot from getting wet after exposure to minimal water and other moisture sources. It’s worth noting that this isn’t a waterproof boot, so it’s not suitable for work areas that are always wet or for use in outdoor conditions while it’s raining hard.

Breathability

The boot’s upper is made with naturally breathable premium leather. It allows a good amount of air to come in and circulate, so the interior didn’t feel overheated even when I wore the footwear for long hours at a time. This breathability also helped moisture quickly escape, protecting my feet from becoming overwhelmed with an overheated feeling with all-day boot use.

Quality and Durability

The Blundstone 510 Leather Chelsea Boot is built with water-resistant leather that keeps water, mud, and other moisture sources from seeping in, protecting my foot from annoying wetness.

However, as it isn’t made with fully waterproof materials, it isn’t ideal for exceptionally wet environments or in heavy rain.

This boot showcases reinforced stitching on the heel portion to ensure long-lasting performance that won’t easily break down with heavy use. The soft toe design may not be for harsh environments, but it adds to the boot’s overall comfy profile.

I got this boot in the Voltan black leather option that looked professional and could be fully maximized on the job while still being stylish, partnering well with many casual outfits. I particularly liked the matte finish that added to the fashionable yet versatile look, which I took advantage of in different settings and with various attire choices. With proper cleaning and maintenance, this boot’s design shines through, and I expect it to last a long time.

The slip-on design makes this boot very convenient to use. I appreciated the addition of pull tabs on the back and front sections of the opening, allowing me to put on the boot without the need for laces easily. The panels of stretchy material on the sides of the boot’s opening offered a comfortable way of pulling the boot on, although it’s slightly more difficult to remove if it still needs to be broken in.

I’m impressed with the patented SPS Max Comfort system that delivers exceptional shock absorption, preventing foot fatigue from developing even after I’ve been walking all day.

Meanwhile, the footbed offered ample softness to support my foot and was removable for convenient cleaning.

The boot’s lightweight structure was a huge plus for long hours of walking or standing since it didn’t uncomfortably drag on my foot. Walking for most of the day wasn’t a problem, thanks to the boot’s flexible upper that followed my foot’s motion without pinching my skin with every step. The sole was also flexible, allowing me to enjoy greater mobility while supporting my foot from below. However, the outsole didn’t have an exceptional level of traction and didn’t feel as durable as much thicker boot soles.

I also noted that this boot is more expensive than other boots with quite similar qualities, which I believe would’ve offered more value.
